Consistent Layer Shifting after Klipper Install, Ender 3

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Ender 3, 2018-ish
MCU / Printerboard: Creality v1.1.4
Host / SBC: RPi 3 w/ Klipper/Fluidd

klippy (2).zip (1.8 MB)

Describe your issue:

First time on Klipper, and just installed a Klackender setup. It was printing really well on stock Marlin, but decided it was time for an ABL.

Only adjusted the X axis belt tensioner, and the bolt underneath to mount the Klackender dock. Both are now tight, belt has been tensioned several times.

I’ve slowed down speeds as slow as 25mm/s, set velocity limit to 100mm/s and accel down to 1000mm/s to no avail.

20mm calibration cube is shifting to the left. I noticed it starts at the bottom of the letters, where the hot end moves (looking top-down) from the bottom right to the top left between layers.

thin-pegboard-hook is shifting to the right. It starts shifting as soon as the layers start to stack, on this one, the hot end moves (looking top-down) from the bottom right to the top left.

All pulleys feel fine, all belts seem tensioned. I’m so lost, what did I do wrong?

Swapped X/Y stepper and endpoint plugs on the motherboard and the shifting has now come towards the front. Does this seem like it would be indicative that this is a board issue?

Good thinking.

Not necessarily. Could be a driver defect or a stepper motor fault I would do above with the x/y stepper motors and post the result.

Please post bigger and closer photos of your prints!

Sadly it looks like it was the board. Swapped to a 4.2.7 board and it printed perfectly right off the bat.
