Need Advice: Combining leveling sensors for high speed printing at print start

Printer Model: Stealthburner is currently mounted to Ender 3 frame for testing but will eventually be installed in a Voron Trident
MCU / Printerboard: Octopus Max EZ and EBB SB2209 USB

  • I’m trying to solve a few problems that I’m running into and hoping someone can recommend some advice. I am working on a new build that will outstrip my X1C on Size and startup speed. I am trying to use an E3D PZ probe as an endstop for a zero z offset Z stop while also combining an Eddy current for high speed bed meshing.
  • Currently the issues I’m running into are I need a way to dial in sensitivity on the PZ Probe and I was hoping to use the I2C interface on the USB toolboard. Unfortunately there seems to be a gap in instructions on setting up custom I2C sensors on the config page. There is a set of UART commands on the E3D page but the toolboard I’m working with only has I2C and USB.
  • Also as an interesting note, the Eddy current magnetic field triggers the piezo signal amplifier on the PZ Probe. I’m considering wrapping the amplifier board in MUmetal sheet soldered to a grounded drain wire but I’m not sure that’s going to be enough. Maybe there is a way to turn off endstop input while the Eddy Current bed mesh is running.
