I can confirm that one of the 191 packages is the “evil” ModemManager. This issue can therefore be resolved by issuing the following command: sudo systemctl disable ModemManager.service Credits to Dragonkitty on Discord for describing the issue in detail.

In order to eliminate any unforeseen variables and potential bit rot or cruft, I did a totally clean manual install or Raspbian, starting with 2022-09-22-raspios-buster-armhf-lite.img, updating it to current with apt, installing KIAUH, then Klipper, Moonraker & Flu…

Alas, this isn’t something I’ll be able to look at. FWIW, from your description, it sounds like a system package may have been installed which is messing with the serial ports. See the blurb on “ModemManager” at the end of Frequently Asked Questions - Klipper documentation for details. -Kevin
