Screws tilt calculate software issue

Dear all, there is an issue, from my point of view, in the internal routines for Screws tilt calculate, every time yo use it, it performs in a right way, but, if you tap on screen over one of the screws, the system, looks like repeating the reading, for this single screw, but once repeated the single screw reading, the shown value continues being the old one, despite of if you, between two readings has made changes on this single screw, tightening or loosing the aforementioned screw, from my point of view, once you are able to repeat the measure for a single screw, you must refresh the number with the new value, and if necessary, change to the green checkmark.

Thanks for your work.

I’m afraid I cannot follow your description. Please upload a klippy.log that might show this case, and even a video or screencast to highlight this behavior. At a minimum, provide a relevant klippy.log to start with.

I don’t really know if this will appear on klippy log, I’ll check it and I’ll be back to you, but it’s simple try to adjust the screws, and once done, just when you get the results, tap on the screen over one of the screws without checkmark, you’ll fast know what I mean

If you do not know, why not just posting it?

Because I’m far away from my printers

Do you happen to be talking about Bed Level/Screws - KlipperScreen?

Hi Sineos, we can talk about if you want, I’ll try to make a video to show you what I mean

Hi again, this is the only way, or at least, one way to send you a video, please have a look, I think is clear what I want to tell you with it:

Eddy, here you have the Klippy.log

klippy.log (634.0 KB)

  • It is my understanding that KlipperScreen uses a different approach compared to Klipper’s default. Details are in the documentation link above.
  • This behavior seems unique to KlipperScreen. Whether it is considered “by design” or an issue, I cannot tell.
  • The best course of action would be to open an issue ticket on KlipperScreen’s GitHub and seek clarification.

Ok, thanks, I’ll try with them

If I understand your issue correctly, I think this is by design in klipperscreen…. (Not a Klipper issue).
When you tap on the screws in klipperscreen, it moves the nozzle to the position without probing.
It is not actually taking a measurement but positioning the nozzle on the bed at Z=0 for you to use the paper test to manually adjust the screws on each corner.

Thanks for your time to answer me, to use of paper to do that adjustment is archaic, normally I don’t have screws on my printers, I have several motors and use Z_TILT_ADJUST, I try always to mount more than a motor on Z axis, and everyone with his own driver, in order to be able to do so, but this is a special case, with a hot bed of 130 x 130 mm., then I have no space, I can calibrate the horizontality using screws tilt feature, and I was surprised, when I discovered that I’m able to tap over a single screw, the system takes a new measure, and this measure is used for nothing, I was just contacted with Klipperscreen crew, after talk with Sineos, and by his recommendation, in order to make them know the issue, they told me that this is as is, and they have no intention to change it, now I know this is not a mistake, but I still can not understand why the system is able yo do a mesure that never will be used, my mind is still trying to process it.

Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome
It’s great having all the automation and for the vast majority it works well.
It’s also very thoughtful of the klipperscreen team to provide a manual method for when all else fails.
For example, I’ve had to diagnose a faulty probe and also twisted x axis extrusion (on several printers) and thought I was going insane trying to chase down software and hardware issues. This feature made it easy to reduce the number of potential failure points and use a simple paper test to narrow down the cause.
Best wishes and happy printing :+1:
