Basic Information:

MCU / Printerboard: Robin Nano V3

I am getting constant MCU Lost Communication errors. Happens at all different times. I have tried to read through the log but it might as well be in Martian. I have been fighting this for a month now. I have changed all the cords, used different power supplies and nothing works. Running a speeder pad with the firmware from FLSUN and I created the firmware for the printer using Moba. Please help before I pull out what little hair I have left.

This can usually be fixed by using a new, quality USB cable: Got EOF when reading from device

Iā€™ve used 10 different cords of varying lengths. All high speed/gold plated high quality cables and nothing changes.

Your host keeps resetting the USB subsystem because of a condition consistent with excessive electromagnetic interference. This is usually caused by poorly shielded USB cables, but it can also be caused by a poor quality USB peripheral or, more rarely, by faulty hardware on the host machine.

If you have anything else connected to the host USB other than the printer, unplug it and see if that helps. If not, try disconnecting all USB devices from the host, reboot the host, and just let it sit for a few hours with no USB connections. Then check dmesg again for this error. If it continues to appear, that would suggest faulty hardware.

Only thing connected is the printer. When you say hardware are you referring to the speeder pad or the main board. I ask because before I switched to klipper I had the printer hooked directly to my computer through USB and it would do what I assume is the Marlin equivalent of lost MCU by just stopping mid print. Iā€™ve had a suspicion since day 1 that the mainboard was faulty.

If the speeder pad still resets the USB connection like that without anything connected to it, then the problem would most likely be in the speeder pad itself. If the USB resets only occur when the printer (and no other USB peripherals) are connected, then that would suggest that the printer (i.e. the mainboard) is itself the faulty peripheral.

If that is the case, and if youā€™re comfortable with a soldering iron, you could try checking the physical USB port on the MKS board and resoldering it.

Problem with troubleshooting the pad is it doesnā€™t boot klipper unless itā€™s connected to the printer. Just says printer is not ready and then says mcu unable to connect.

So that second dmesg log isnā€™t showing the error, but you may have to let it stew for a while. Even with the printer connected it took almost 8 minutes before the connection became unstable and more than 30 minutes before it started throwing the EMI error.

Let me riddle you this. I just stumbled across a post about emi being caused by running sesperate power supplies to the printer and the pad. Could be a ground loop problem? A couple weeks ago I ran the pad off the power supply from my v400 which is factory wired into the printers power supply and it ran just fine. I would assume that there was a stable ground within the other printerā€¦

Thatā€™s conceivable. It still points to a hardware problem, the only question is whether itā€™s a faulty unit or a design defect that affects the entire product. It could also be the pad is running off a noisy power supply, though if that were the culprit, you would still expect to see the USB resets even without the printer connected.

On second thought though, perhaps there needs to be USB data transfer before the resets will be triggered. If your pad runs for at least an hour without throwing those USB errors, try plugging something like a thumb drive into it and copying files back and forth for a little while and see if that triggers any USB errors.
