Ender 3 Pro Upgrade Question

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Ender 3 Pro
MCU / Printerboard: Creality 4.2.2

Just wanted some opinions for upgrading our Ender 3 Pro. We have a Ender 3 S1 Pro and a Ender 3 Pro. We love the Ender 3 S1 Pro. Is it possible to replace the extruder on the Ender 3 Pro with the same direct drive extruder that is on the Ender 3 S1 Pro? Or would the mainboard have to be upgraded as well…

Just curious if it would be logical to upgrade the Ender 3 Pro or just replace it all together.
