It would be very handy if the printer could expose its settings in an API, this way the slicer could connect and configure itself.
The advantages are that whenever I switch slicer software I would not need to create a new printer profile.
Obviously slicers do not usually have this function, but if the printer starts to expose the data I can see slicers starting to offer a “Use printer provided settings” feature.

Have you seen the Moonraker API docs? You can it to get printer information, and the configfile
object to get printer configuration.

Apart from Moonraker already offering this possibility, the added value of getting some accelerations, velocities, and perhaps bed size seems somewhat limited.
