Hi
Is it possible that I simply need a BIGTREETECH U2C V1.1 module
and have to exchange it with the BTT RPI-CAN HAT V1.0
great
Martin
Hi Martin,
I’m not sure, if I understand your question correctly?
You may start reading til the end https://www.klipper3d.org/ and try to understand it (not easy for beginners like me (frickeling lot of reading and understanding ;)!)
I think it is missing something like this for starters.
I borrowed it from here CANBUS TOOLHEAD INSTALL | klipper_canbus and changed it! The source might help you to set up your CAN bus.
This is in my eyes the basic Klipper setup (please community correct me, if I’m wrong!) 24v PSU could also be a 12v PSU (depends on your “PRINTER CONTROLLER” here your “Octopus pro”)!
You may use the “search” function in this forum. Here are a lot of threads about Octopus pro using CAN!
I think you can replace “RASPBERRY Pi” with something else, i.e. your “PC Think Cente” (I guess it is like this ThinkCentre M70q Gen 3 Tiny (Intel) | Compact, powerful 1L PC | Lenovo UK)
Good luck!
PS: Please correct me (community), if I’m wrong!!!
Hi
The Raspberry can be replaced by the PC, but the BTT RPI-CAN HAT V1.0 module must be replaced by something on USB
That was how I thought it should be
Great Martin
If you have an Octopus Pro you do not need another USB-to-CAN adapter. The Octopus Pro may perform that functionality.
So, it’s:
PC → USB cable → Octopus Pro → CANbus cable → toolhead
Alternatively, if for some reason you don’t want to do that, you can also wire it as:
PC → USB (or uart) cable → Octopus Pro
PC → USB cable → USB-to-CAN adapter → CANbus cable → toolhead
