Basically the title. I am looking for the cheapest, mobile, solution to run KlipperScreen. Currently I use a Amazon Fire HD 8 (2022) model with OctoApp and Fluidd in the browser. But I would like to switch to a device that runs KlipperScreen.
The main point is, it cannot be fixed to one printer since I currently have 3, with 4 more to be build during the coming years and getting a PI and a touchscreen for every printers gets fairly expensive. So now I am thinking about getting an old Windows tablet and putting KlipperScreen on that. Since I only plan to run KlipperScreen only Wifi and the screen need to work. Currently, I am trying to make it work on my Lenovo Yogabook which works but the rotation doesn’t work properly.
Now to my device ideas.
My first one was to just grab any touchscreen compatible with a Raspberry PI CM4, adding a battery and print a nice case. But that ends at round about 250 - 300 € which is way too expensive.
The second one was a PineTab or a CutiePI, but both are too expensive too.
The cheapest I could find would be a used Dell Venue 8 Pro (I used to own that tablet) for around 49 €. I also have good experience with Surface devices running Linux, and actually have a Surface Pro 9 running Arch Linux ATM. Only thing I am worried with these devices would be the battery life time.
The last option I had in mind, just get any PostmarketOS compatible Android device and install it in PostmarketOS.
Has someone maybe a better idea and what are your opinions on my ideas?
