Extruder temp showing -50 Degrees?

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Voron 2.4 Rev 2
MCU / Printerboard: Octopus 1.1
Host / SBC ???
klippy.log

Fill out above information and in all cases attach your klippy.log file (use zip to compress it, if too big). Pasting your printer.cfg is not needed
Be sure to check our “Knowledge Base” Category first. Most relevant items, e.g. error messages, are covered there

Describe your issue:

On Start up, my Extrude temp is showing -50 degrees for a ATC Semitec 104NT-4-R025H42G and -60 for a Generic 3950 ? I changed the min temp in the printer.cfg to get Klipper to load and connect. I have a typical Stealthburner hot end with what my materials list shows a the Klicky Probe Kit? Anyone have a suggestion as to which Probe ID I should list?
Thanks

If you have such extreme values with two different thermistors, that something is wrong with the wiring.

It should show your room temperature if not heated and cooled down.

Even when you lower the min temp, the shown high temperatures can be very much wrong.

The Bed Temp is showing accurate. Its just the Hot end / Extruder that is not. There are two or three different wiring options / recommendations out there with regard to either needing or not needing an 8 ohm in-line resistor and which pins actually need to connect to the Spider board? I will try other options and check back with results.

Can you share the " two or three different wiring options / recommendations out there with regard to either needing or not needing an 8 ohm in-line resistor"?

In your klippy.log, you are indicating that you are connecting the extruder thermistor to PF4, which is the TH0 connector on the Octopus - it should just be plugging the two thermistor wires into the TH0 connector.

Along with that, could you explain your comment regarding the “Spider board”? You’re indicating that you’re connecting to an Octopus 1.1.

If this is really your board and you connected to J45

then:

  • Your pin setting in the config is correct
  • You likely have a wiring issue or dead thermistors

There is only one correct wiring: Thermistor directly to the 2 relevant pins. There is no polarity.

I have the board wired exactly like this:

I tried this persons wiring advice and got the same result. Notice he splits the probe wire across two socket (I am not an EE so socket may be the wrong term). He seems to have one wire from J45 and two from an adjacent socket.
It wont let me paste a 2nd link so Google " Voron 2.4R2 Wiring Guide!" with ID v=rcQJLGsV3Rc if you want to see one of the other wiring options being shown on the internet.

Regardless, I still am getting an accurate Bed temp but not on the Extruder. I replaced the sensor and I get the same reading.

Any thoughts?

On all Sockets, there a two wires:

J45

The black on top and the white below.

You definitely need two wires from that socket to your thermistor.

Sorry for taking so long to get back. I was checking the thermistor sensor cable as recommended and I touched the wrong pin and fried my octopus board. I have a new on installed and wired and flashed. Here is the Klippy.log and Printer.cfg … I dont understand why the PI and Octopus now arent communicating ? The flash appears correct?
printer.cfg (16.0 KB)
klippy (8).log (91.7 KB)

OK, i added the file path to the Serial number anowI have everything back to our original situation of the thermistor temp showing -50 to -60 ?

Also, could you please verify a wiring discrepancy in documentation: The Voron site shows the two SSR SIG wires going to the BedOut screws where as the LDO documents show the SSR SIG wires going into the side of the Octopus Board into the HE1 sockets as seen in the picture you provided?
