M205 Unknown Command

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Ender3 S1
MCU / Printerboard:
klippy.log

Fill out above information and in all cases attach your klippy.log file (use zip to compress it, if too big). Pasting your printer.cfg is not needed

Describe your issue:

I’m running Cura to slice prints for my Ender3 S1 with the Klippper printer cfg file. I am trying to create the Pressure Advance cube as per the Klipper documentation. Between presure_advance : xxx messages, I get approximately ten “Unknown command: M205” errors. What should I do to correct this problem?

You know, it makes supporters really tired always to ask for the klippy.log.

Please attach it to your next post. Here. No file servers.

And: No. M205 is not supported by Klipper.

I was about to send the log file but I then remember reading somewhere about incompatibilities between Klipper and Cura’s jerk control. After doing some digging I found that coasting, and acceleration and jerk control need to be disabled. I made these changes, reran the print, and presto, no M205 errors.

Other printing neophytes, like me, may not fully appreciate the interaction between Klipper and Cura, and the settings impact on print code.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

You can set other slicers to Klipper flavour - why not Cura :person_shrugging:
