New to klipper and trying to get the set up correct.
running mainsail on a raspberry pi printed a single layer bridging test, the way it turned out confused me if perhaps there is a flow issue?
any help is greatly appreciated

Fill out above information and in all cases attach your klippy.log file. Pasting your printer.cfg is not needed
Apart from the obvious causes:
make sure to have your extruder’s rotation distance well calibrated: calibrating-rotation_distance-on-extruders
If you’re just setting things up I have to ask how did you calibrate your extruder?

If I may give my 50c: It shows, that you did not properly follow the setup instruction of klipper because if you would have done so, it would look different 
But to give you any better tip where to start: How does a ringing test look like at your actual setup?
