Pressure advance test - thermal runaway

Hi All,

Got a bit of a strange one here. I’m running the pressure adv tower print on an Ender 3 Max with a Biqu E3 v3 & H2 extruder as i wanted to tune in some new filament.

When I run a print normally its fine. but when i run with the SET_VELOCITY_LIMIT SQUARE_CORNER_VELOCITY=1 ACCEL=500 and
TUNING_TOWER COMMAND=SET_PRESSURE_
ADVANCE PARAMETER=ADVANCE START=0 FACTOR=.005 commands the machine hits thermal temp on the hotend of 290-300 & shuts down.

It only seems to be on this print & commands though. i can print normally with this filament absolutely fine.

I can see in Klippy.log the temp hitting the desired print temp but I cant make out why its hitting 300c? (attached the log file (i hope) - sorry for the zip its over 8MB).

Using SuperSlicer as my main slicer & MainsailOS 0.6.1 (buster) on a Pi4 if that’s any help.

Anyone have any ideas?

Kind Regards

I’m not sure, I completely understand. What is the target temperature? Is it 300 °C or are you trying something normal?

Retraction tower prints very fast if slicer is set correct, this can lower the temperature. What is the duty cycle of your extruder heater? Have you calibrated the PID values…

Ofc, all this information can be found in your log, but it is really hard to unpack read and understand it. So if you did not find a solution, I will take a second look if there is more context

Best regards and hopefully happy printing
