I run a extruder with a Zesty Nimble (30:1 ratio) on 3mm filament.
After the first cube test with TUNING_TOWER COMMAND=SET_PRESSURE_ADVANCE PARAMETER=ADVANCE START=0 FACTOR=.005 I did not notice any change on the corners.
The second cube test went with TUNING_TOWER COMMAND=SET_PRESSURE_ADVANCE PARAMETER=ADVANCE START=0 FACTOR=.020. At the top, the corners get way better, but not optimal.
Is it possible, that with my configuration as mentioned above, the Pressure Advance value can go over 1?
It wouldn’t surprise me. The shaft used to drive that extruder is flexible and I’m sure it’s also flexing torsionally. Any backlash in the worm gear would also increase the required pressure advance value.
Hey!!! What were the results of your testing? Geared extruders the world over want to know!
I just ran that test and found no discernable change in the print. I was going to post the issue here but saw this thread and the light went on; oh yeah, the geared extruder. Doh!
