Update ? invalid?

Hi, what does it mean?

This means you have done modifications to files that you should not modify (or at least exactly know what you are doing).
It is checked if the content matches to the content of the respective Git Hub repository and if not mark it as “Invalid”

Could this be caused by only opening such files or by bad blocks on the SD card too?
I have this often on my CoreXY as well…

of course I do not touch the system, we had a look into the configs to finde the cancel procedure

what is the sollution?

I’m not sure. Might be but this would be some kind of bad corruption. As stated above: Git repositories (Moonraker, Klipper, etc are git repositories) track all file changes unless explicitly taken out via .gitignore.
So these routines just compare the status of the source repository (e.g. GitHub - Klipper3d/klipper: Klipper is a 3d-printer firmware) with the status locally and if they do not match, it is marked as “invalid”.

In the klippy.log you will find in such cases also: v0.11.0-41-g9b60daf6-dirty → “dirty” is the indication here.

Hard to say if you do not know where this is coming from. One solution could be to click on the small ▼ besides INVALID and choose “reset”. Might lead to unwanted effects if the changes are intentionally.

Choice between soft or hard recovery

In doubt choose hard. The differences are difficult to explain. This needs solid understanding of git and providing this choice to the user is kind of pointless IMO

hard does not work, soft also not working

Looks like your RPi has troubles connecting to the internet: “Could not resolve host: github.com”

The combination of invalid repositories and this errors looks like a bit messed up system. Hard to diagnose remotely.

correct, wrong settings on static ip, now it works recovering.

How did you fix the IP? I changed my WIFI router and the printer IP-address changed. which gives me the invalid sign in the update tab. though i can still connect to the printer. both soft and hard reset errors out.

You do not need to change anything on your setup. Go to your router and find the new IP of your RPi and use this to access the webinterface.
Typically a router also allows changing the IP or setting a fixed IP. This is considered the preferred approach over assigning a fixed IP directly on the host.

i understand your point, but that is not the problem, as i can connect with the new IP. the problem is that i can’t update klipper or moonraker, because they are marked as invalid.

Try soft recovery first

I tried that the moment i noticed the issue, as well as hard reset. But they both error out, hard reset errors out with github.com

Hey, I am having the exact same issue, new wifi router and all. The new IP is allowing me to access mainsail through the web but where both Klipper and Moonraker say invalid like yours. Neither soft nor hard recovery are working. Did you ever resolve the issue and if so how?

revcory worked fine for me, the question was why, never touched.

the actual sw-versions, do not show this, there I have another error message.

Weird. The soft and hard recovery both result in errors.

show your log for the Sineos and Co.
