How to approach object_exclude

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Voron
MCU / Printerboard: spider
Host / SBC rpi4
klippy.log not applicable

I have a question with regards to the object_exclude. I had 12 copied parts, what I mean is 1 imported stl, copied it and then pasted 11 more in prusaslicer.
These had all the same name, as per screenshot.

When I go into the exclude_object menu from dashboard in mainsail, I see them all, as in the screenshot

when I click in the picture on one of them, they all get excluded.
Question, do I need to exclude one in the menu of the names?
Or must I import each instance and not use copy paste?
I think if you use import they get another instance name which may make them different as per the object_exclude menu, but not sure.

I have not needed it yet but I was just mucking around with it and when you do need it, it would be nice if it worked first time.
Thanks,
Kees

As far as I’m aware, Orca treats multiple copies as “clones” and not as “instances” and thus hadnles them as one.

Prusa knows the instances concept and has a setting to treat all individually
→ “Set as separate object”

There is a Orca PR to improve this, but I do not know if it tackles this completely.

that confirms my feeling somewhat, that you must import them one for one and NOT copy.
As long as you know nothing is right or wrong of course. Just needs to work.
Thanks for your reply, will play with it more.
