Just Installed orig klipper now ripping my hair out getting z offset to work at all
My FLsun V400 printer was working great before this full install. I have tried reading all the github/wiki stuff I can.
I follow the instructions, and my nozzle will not lower. to the bed. about 1 to 3mm higher. Cannot print anything.
So, I need direction, a lesson or I revert back into the FLsun world (which I do not want to do). I see advantages to open source.
I am going bald and blind. I set aside 2 days and looks like I need 20.
S-Pad macros no longer allow me to set / save z-height.
New method with the click probe installed on the nozzle fails me.
- probe on & calibrate
- remove probe manually adjust to bed height
- obtain a Z-offset number.
- save / restart
Must I manually add the z-offset # somewhere?
Thanks for anything you can do or say
Where have you left this?

The steps I follow when setting up my delta is (make sure to SAVE CONFIG after each step):
- Calibrate rotation distance on all steppers
- Extruder calibration
- Endstop phase calibration
- Delta calibrate (manual / cold nozzle/bed)
- Print enhanced delta calibration stl file
- Delta enhanced calibration - DELTA_ANALYZE CALIBRATE=extended
- Bed mesh calibration (manual / cold nozzle/bed)
- Resonance tuning / input shaping via ADXL345
- Pressure advance
- Hot end / heated bed PID tuning
- Probe calibration - if you use one (manual / cold nozzle/bed)
Follow all the Klipper documentation.
I don’t have a delta, but I do know the Z height is controlled by the endstop heights for the A,B, and C towers. If those values are wrong, you won’t be able to lower the nozzle all the way to the bed.
Back on track. Day later. To be honest. Don’t have a clue why Z offset was an issue (Must have been me).
I do wonder that Save & restart are not the same as running the save macro. (in certain conditions).
The fix / All I did is:
From Mainsail on PC
-
Z Offset calibrate (Sensor installed)
Preheat bed to PLA
Run macro **Z Offset Calibration**
After probe is raised up, remove probe & finished the with a manual paper test.
Run macro called **SAVE**.
-
Delta Calibration (Sensor installed)
Run Marco **Delta Calibration**
Accept & reboot.
-
Bed leveling (Sensor installed)
Preheat bed to PLA
Run macro called **Bed Leveling**
Run macro called SAVE
Thats it. Started printing.
Thanks for listening.
