Basic Information:
Printer Model: anycubic kobra 2 neo
MCU / Printerboard: GD32F303
Host / SBC: Mainsail (i think this goes here)
klippy file is replies couldn’t post as new user
Describe your issue:
after discovering this amazing website: Klipper (MOD) - Kobra2Neo Insights forced me to deep dive into Klipper and its world but lucky me had a ton of problems.
for reference, i have an anycubic kobra 2 neo (obvious) with the Aus plug (in case the printer is different for different regions and power and voltage.) connected to an old (2018) HP Spectre running Ubuntu (linux) with the most recent update.
Why do I wanna download Klipper.
- Bed adhesion problems which I believe stem from an unlevel bed and the Marlin firmwares auto-level seems to be extremely inconsistent (maybe its just a me thing tho LMAO)
- ability for lan/wifi printing with mainsail octoprint etc.
- give me something cool to do and expand the brain.
install process and troubles
-
Install Ubuntu Linux (ez)
-
download KIAUH so i can actually install mainsail and stuff
-
through KIAUH installed klipper, moonraker and mainsail.
-
mainsail page and things working all good all i gotta do is flash firmware on printer
-
problems begin
-
I consistently only have been having the error “mcu ‘mcu’: Unable to connect
Once the underlying issue is corrected, use the “FIRMWARE_RESTART” command to reset the firmware, reload the config, and restart the host software. Error configuring printer”
from my knowledge from these forums this can mean 1 of 3 things -
printer not flashed properly
-
issue with the cable/usb port
-
something about Debian files or something (pretty sure doesn’t apply)
i believe i have installed the firmware correctly as i have tried about 10 different firmwares including making my own and others from forums on here and reddit all getting the same issue.
at this point i was thinking, ok printer broke give up. but nuh uh cause i think i have found something interesting.
if i type the command “ls /dev/serial/by-id/*” i get a response of no such file in directory. and im pretty sure this means printer not conneceted. so now what?
i used the command lsusb to see a list of devices conneted and then repeated but unplugging the printer .

if you notice the thing about QinHeng Electronics CH340 serial converter disappears assuming thats my printer. after some digging i found that this is a particular usb converter common on creality printers CH340 Drivers – TH3D Uno & Creality V1.1.X/V4.2.X Board - TH3D Studio Help Center drivers were included here and i did try to install but kept getting error maessges with errors like this
IMAGE 2 Same deal as above
i don’t really understand alot of it but im pretty sure that my Ubuntu install already has some sort of driver relating to this but maybe im wrong.
Maybe some of this makes sense maybe it doesn’t if you have questions ill try to clarify. doing my best to figure it out myself but it is time to ask the community who seem to be reallyhelpful so i thank you in advance if we can figure out how to get the darn thingo to work!
Thanks all again, Ethan
