Sovol SV08. Stock hardware. Have not made any physical alterations to base unit, until I tried to switch to mainline klipper. klippy.log (1.1 MB)
Describe your issue:
Installed mainline on my SV08, per rappetor howto on GitHub. Process appeared to go as expected. Only went through step 6 so far, I did not flash the MCUs with Katapult. Was going to do some printing first, and do the Katapult thing later. Can’t really see this being the issue, but perhaps that’s where I’ve gone wrong.
When I attempt to home the Z axis, the print head dives into bed and z step motors try and dig their way through. If you let it time out, you get the error:
No trigger on stepper z after full movement
I’ve searched that error without finding anything that really helped me. I’ve compared my original printer.config and the new one, along with options/probe/stock.config, I don’t really see any real differences.
Thanks for your response. So… I’ve got a working printer, upgrade software, and now I’ve got a hardware problem? What are the chances?
Apparently, they’re not zero.
I swapped out the eMMC card, returned to original. Same problem. A bit of digging under the print head cover turned up a loose connector to the print head PCB.
Presto. Swapped the eMMC card again, printer correctly homes the Z axis.
Currently printing my 1st benchy on mainline Klipper.
Sorry for the trouble, thanks for assisting me, and for working with this excellent open source project!
