Things are going quite well with setting up my new printer but I’m having a problem with running the Probe Calibration instructions.
The big issue is the Z axis, I’m following the instructions to set the correct offset (starting with “PROBE_CALIBRATE”) as listed above but when I try to “SAVE_CONFIG” I get an error as shown in Mainsail:
I thought I’d try commenting out the “z_offset” line in the [bltouch] statement but that results this error upon restart:
I’m wondering if the problem is that I have a separate .cfg for the FLY SHT board and that has the [bltouch] statement in it.
There is a similar issue with the y_offset in `[bltouch]’ (and I’ve commented it out in the .cfg file but that’s less critical than this one right now.
Surprisingly, the x_offset in [bltouch] seems to be working okay. Printing with PLA is going quite well, but I’m trying ABS and not getting good adhesion with the nozzle not coming close enough to the build surface to put down anything other than a bead of filament on top rather than it being smushed down.
During SAVE_CONFIG Klipper needs to modify your [bltouch] config. Since Klipper cannot modify includes you get this error.
You will need to move the [bltouch] block into printer.cfg
That looks like it got it - I redid the calibration (with the bed heated) and then got a call and started a temperature tower with a raft for a base. The initial filament looks good on the bed and I’ll let you know if there are any problems.
As for the great pay, don’t forget about the short hours and all the women. Everybody knows the hottest, wildest and kinkiest girls go for guys who do online support - that’s why they make so many pornos about men like you.
Not as important or as tangible; I should point out that you do get gratitude from guys like me - I really appreciate the time you take and your expertise. You and the others working on Klipper are really making it something special.
