Deleted because it is about the mainsail tab in my firefox browser.
This tab has a pi chart for the percentage of printing that is done, and a number which tells you the percentage that has been done.
When the tab is open both update correctly, but when I am on another tab, the number does not update at all but the pi chart does.
Is this normal behaviour or is there some bug with my version in firefox?
Running linux ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
Actually, I’m seeing the same behavior with FF and Mainsail. As soon as the tab is in the background, i.e., not active, the progress does not get updated.
I never bothered, and a wild guess would be that this is intended behavior to reduce the resources used by non-active tabs. Maybe @meteyou can add something to this.
i think this comes from the browser “power saving mode”. at least i haven’t noticed it with Chrome/Arc, but in the github issue + your comment, this bug is probably firefox related.
So the test results are in, and they look like they are conclusively putting the blame on Firefox.
On windows with Firefox, not updating the numbers but the percentage pi chart is growing when the tab is not being used, i.e. in the background.
On windows with Edge browser and with Chrome browser, everything updates when the tab is in the background.
I hope this helps somewhat and even though not fatal or even that important, it would be nice to have it displaying the correct progress
