Are there good options to add a touch screen to i3MK3S+ with Klipper?

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Prusa i3MK3S+
MCU / Printerboard: Einsy
Host / SBC Pi5
klippy.log

Fill out above information and in all cases attach your klippy.log file (use zip to compress it, if too big). Pasting your printer.cfg is not needed

Describe your issue:

I would like to add a touch screen to this set up. What is the best way to do so? Any recommended products?

Hi @printeruser ,

I would check out this post to find a display you like. Depending on the display you choose, you might connect it over HDMI or the DSI ribbon cable to your Pi. Then, you can install KlipperScreen using KIAUH.

Thanks. On my iPhone, sometimes pressing the Load Filament or Unload Filament button on the browser caused the job to be cancelled. I am sure it was not caused by pressing the button incorrectly due to the small screen. If I add a touch screen to i3MK3S+, will such problem occur sometimes?

Mobileraker is easier on the iPhone than Mainsail or Fluidd.

If you didn’t have a Pi5 already I’d steer you to the solution I hit upon when Pi SBCs were unobtanium last year. A 2nd hand Microsoft Surface Go has a glorious 10" touch screen AND happily hosts klippy. $70 on ebay (you’ll need a hub and a USB accelerometer) was a very good choice.

I have a Pi5 connected to my i3MK3S+. I have an unused 1st or 2nd generation iPad. Shall I try it with Mobileraker first before spending money on an extra touch screen?

I’d sure experiment. 2nd gen might not be compatible.

What do you have to loose? My main issue with Mobileraker was that My iPhone hates my router for some reason so I normally keep the wifi off. With a dedicated device you’d avoid that issue.
