How do I confirm if I have successfully replaced Kalico for Klipper?

Basic Information:

Printer Model: Voron 2.4
MCU / Printerboard: Leviathan v1.2
Host / SBC: Nitehawk-SB
klippy.log (52.2 KB)

Describe your issue:

I installed Kalico in hopes of resolving some Odd StallGuard behavior - TMC5160 + ldo-42sth48-2004mah and I had promised to remove it asap. Today I finally had some time to do this, so I did.

I went into KIAUH and I swapped the repository from Kalico to Klipper. KIAUH did it’s thing, backed up everything, removed the directory, and re-downloaded everything from the Klipper repo.

Is that all?

It kind of looks like that’s all there is to do.

Do I have to build re-build the firmware, flash the Leviathan v1.2, and flash the Nitehawk-SB?

I know that when I had Kalico installed it wanted me to update to version v0.12.0-741-gc2b02a5d, but I don’t know if that number is Klipper or something different. The doubt comes from the installation instructions were it mentions you can switch back to mainline Klipper at any time, but in the FAQ for uninstalling does mention re-flashing the firmware.

SOLVED.

SOLUTION: Nobody knows. Re-flashed Leviathan v1.2 + Nitehawk-SB anyways. Now, I’m sure.

You’re asking the Klipper community about your problem with Kalico, sorry?

Hi @kawabunga ,

I’ve never used Kalico, but you could probably try using one of Kalico’s various additions to Klipper to see if it works.

I’m a bit confused by your response. Could you clarify?

If you’re not sure about the details or if there’s no reliable way to confirm that Kalico has been successfully removed, feel free to say so, or let someone else jump in who might have more insight.

That said, as far as I know, I’m fully running Klipper now, so this seems like the right community to ask in.

I’m just looking for helpful advice. Thanks!

Thanks.

I had [tmcXXXX] home_current on and had to comment it out and restart. The thing that has me questioning is because of the process.

  1. Install Kalico
  2. Update firmware on the Leviathan
  3. Update firmware on the Stealthburner

I don’t know if that’s Klipper or Kalico code being pushed in through the updates.

Hi kawabunga,
sorry for answering so late.

Well, this is the Klipper forum. I would ask the Kalico community.

about Kalico…

Kalico states here https://github.com/KalicoCrew/kalico:

Our goal is to support features and behavior that could be “risky” if used incorrectly.
If I want my printer to light itself on fire, I should be able to make my printer light itself on fire.

I don’t think so

Just my opinion.
